Skin prick tests (SPT) are the most commonly used tests in the Children's Allergy Cambridge clinic. They can be used for food and aeroallergen allergy. Its important to know they are not a simple yes / no result. The key thing is the interpretation in the context of the clinical story. So a positive SPT does not mean allergy. To see a useful video of it being performed visit https://www.itchysneezywheezy.co.uk/EczemaSkinPrickTestFood.html

Specific IgE tests are also commonly used but these are blood tests and you don't get an immediate result like you do with a SPT. Beware that IgG testing, Vega testing, Kinesiology and York test are not validated tests and not recommended by the NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence).
